About Us

History of our Practice

Dr. E. William Parker began his OB-GYN practice in a small office directly south of the American Fork Hospital in August of 1982. He joined the medical staff at American Fork and Orem Community Hospitals. He also agreed to be the back-up physician for LaRita Evans, Claudia Gerard and Kathie Lloyd, three Certified Nurse Midwives in Orem, a practice owned by LaRita Evans. Dr Parker=s practice grew so fast that he hired a Nurse Practitioner in 1991 and asked Dr. James Nelson to join the practice in 1993. At that point, Mount Timpanogos Women=s Health Care, Inc was formed.

The relationship between the doctors and the growing Certified Nurse Midwife practice continued, with the addition of two new midwives in 1994. Dr. Parker purchased the midwife practice from LaRita in 1994 when she retired from the practice. Mt. Timpanogos Women=s Health Care had grown to 2 physicians, 1 Nurse Practitioner and 5 Certified Nurse Midwives. The practice moved in part of the Temple View Medical Building on the hospital road (currently Tri-City Medical Family Practice Group). In 1995 Dr. Mark Saunders joined the group, having attended the Medical College of Wisconsin and did his residency at Creighton University in Nebraska.

During this time, the Certified Nurse Midwives realized they needed to be closer to the physicians and the American Fork Hospital, so in July of 1996, they temporarily moved into a small office on the west side of American Fork, while plans to build a new building were started. Over the next two years, two Nurse Practitioners joined the practice, along with another Certified Nurse Midwife. 1998 brought several changes to our practice; in July Ekaete Udodong (a Nurse Practitioner) joined us and in September ground was finally broken for the new building that everyone had been anxious about. Also in September, that year, Dr. Kari Lawrence joined our practice coming out of residency. Dr. Nelson left the corporation in February 1999 to pursue his own private practice.

Our new beautiful building was completed on March 15, 1999, which we had dreamed of for several years. From this date on, new midwives came and went (usually moving to other parts of the country). We have stayed consistent with 6 midwives at any given time to service our patients. In November of 2001, we added Mitzi Jones to our staff as a Childbirth Educator. She teaches overall childbirth education and breastfeeding.

Doctors and midwives have come and gone throughout the years, pursuing practices in different areas. We currently have 2 doctors (Dr. Parker and Dr. Saunders) and are looking to add another physician this next year (2007), as Dr. Parker contemplates a day when he and his wife could serve a church mission.

Mt. Timpanogos Women=s Health Care has grown to be one of the largest OB-GYN clinics in our area. Although we have many providers and seem so big, we care about each and every one of our patients and hope they will have a good experience with us.
